Broadcom sharpens focus on DTH market

US based semiconductor company Broadcom solutions increasingly focused aggressively into the digital market in India and aims to market leader offers integrated SoC (SoC).
The company has already signed contracts from the likes of Dish TV, Tata Sky and Indus Ind Media and Communications Limited (IMCL), the highly integrated SoC devices has bagged. "Based on our experience, the satellite TV providers can provide high quality content on a variety of channels with a bandwidth optimized to provide better channel," says Rajiv Kapur, CEO of Broadcom India. As the HDTV market continues to grow in the country, the company believes that the growing demand for HD content will enable the company to spearhead. "We offer the right technology that is cost effective and supports the integration of functions and features best-in-class," says Brett Tischler, Senior Director of Broadcom group.

The company has a wide range of solutions designed exclusively for emerging markets like India. He says he has developed more than 100 million units of products with silicon tuner, a technology to replace legacy less reliable tuners and manufacturers to sell supports the development of advanced cost-decoder (STB).

According to some sources Broadcom to offer in advanced talks with Doordarshan, solutions for the digitization of content.

Broadcom important areas for the Indian market in the next two years, decoder, network solutions for operators and telecommunications equipment, as they evolve from 3G to 4G. The company also works with domestic mobile phone manufacturers such as Micromax 3G single core smartphone, dual-core and quad-core from India.

Broadcom BCM7358 and BCM7301 SoC currently available in large quantities. This SoC are supposedly designed for emerging markets and provide support for a variety of connectivity solutions and enhanced security.

In India, the company competes with the likes of ST Micro to SOC for decoder. According to ABI Research, Broadcom offers 85-86 million video STB SoC world in 2012.
