Sky Cable and SES to launch a DTH satellite TV Service in Philippines

Sky cable jointly with SES is going to launch a DTH (direct to home TV) satellite TV service in the Philippines. SES announced the multi-year multiple agreements with Sky Cable TV to launch a direct to home TV (DTH), satellite TV ,direct-to-home satellite TV service at 108.2 degrees East with SES TV satellites- the SES-9 and NSS-11 satellites.

The contractual capacity will empower Sky cable service to effectively launch a DTH satellite television throughout the country to over 251 cities and municipalities of the Philippines archipelago, in addition to the existing cable TV  service. The SES-9 which was launched recently planned to offer a replaceable capacity of Ses at 108.2 degrees East, which reaches 22 million homes.

Sky cable depends on the capacity development of SES and the overall experience of the full SES satellite TV network hosted more than 40 DTH platforms worldwide, to provide high-quality content for households in the Philippines. These include linear broadcast content in remote areas and islands which are not suitable for terrestrial TV networks. Sky Cable currently provides cable TV channels to 55-800000 subscribers in 19 cities and municipalities in the Philippines in High Definition (HD).

"The Geography of the Philippines presents a number of challenges for the fiber or terrestrial connectivity. Our satellites are able to overcome these limitations and provide full coverage, high performance of the entire archipelago, including less connected areas in the Philippines. We look to support Sky cable and expand both the infrastructure on the ground and space for their television audience reach, "said Deepak Mathur, Asia Pacific and Vice President of Sales of Middle East.
