The service will be offered free of charge until the end of the year. With Jio, the company created the LYF brand to sell their own 4G smartphones. LYF has had good sales in providing Jio Preview exclusively for its smartphones. Interestingly, the Jio Mi-Fi devices came with the brand and are available in the market as JioFi.

In the near future, Jio will also launch Android-powered 4K Set-TOP-Box in India. With 1 Gbps connection via JioFiber, the user can get a seamless experience, although the JioFiber is said to be only available to companies, at least initially. A few months ago, the company imported 15000 set-top-box units at a price of Rs 5500 per unit. This Decoder (STB) is manufactured by Foxconn in Vietnam and comes with MCM3100 model number. But there will be two models of Jio set-top-boxes at the time of the official release.

While one of the new series High-end STB comes with the Broadcom chipset, the other comes with a Marvell processor. According to our source, the two support 4K UHD standard and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. However, you need to have a 4k TV to watch the 4K content via Jio 4k STB. With these smart STB, your ordinary LCD/LED TV can become a smart TV to run on Android. The device comes with Play Store pre-installed with Android native applications and Jio Suite applications such as Jio TV and Jio On Demand TV. The Broadcom of the STB comes with two processors and Brahma Ogles 3.1 GPU.

Instead of regulating the infrared remote control, these jio disorders will come with Bluetooth remote controls and can be controlled with your own smartphones using the application. The remote control also has a microphone for voice search. The connectivity options are considered, it will be LAN, USB, and HDMI ports, as well as the built-in WiFi support. Earlier this month, Xiaomi has debuted on the US market by launching My Box running on Android. It costs $69 and supports 4K and HDR. In India, we have the latest EvoTV 2 Amkette costing Rs. 6,999.

It runs on older Android KitKat version and supports only a maximum resolution of Full HD. Compared to EvoTV 2 the new yet to launch Jio set top box seems better specifications, features and interestingly comes with all bundle of Jio apps, which are unique to Jio users.
