YahLive, EARTH to launch new DTH service for the Asian communities. YahLive and Entertainment Reality TV Hub (EARTH) announced a new contract worth several million US dollars to launch a new direct to home TV service (DTH) in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. YahLive, based in the United Arab Emirates, will serve the Dth TV service to five countries, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, SriLanka and Filipino in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The new service will be launched in August and the customers can watch TV channels in seven languages. Yahlive DTH will provide a number of new standard definition TV channels (SD) and high definition (HD) in Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Sinhala, Bengali, Tagalog, and Malayalam. In terms of programming, the two companies have worked together on a variety of quality TV content.

YahLive offers a new TV service in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia and also for Asian audiences.

The satellite operators based in the United Arab Emirates have to provide the service with Entertainment Reality TV hub partners, which will begin in August.

It will target expatriates of viewers from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

"The introduction of the new set-top-box (satellite TV decoder) is consistent with the YahLive strategy to create high-quality content for news and entertainment to different target communities," said the satellite company in a statement.

Spectators can watch dozens of new channels in seven different languages, including Urdu, Hindi, and Tamil.

Although the cost of the service has not been disclosed, YahLive said that customers who sign-up early for subscription will get a few months of free subscription included a free Yahlive ser-top-box (satellite TV decoder).

Sami Boustany, CEO of YahLive, said the service would also extend to other GCC countries.

The YahLive headquarters in Abu Dhabi and was launched in 2011 as a joint venture between SES and Yahsat, a satellite operator based by Mubadala.
