Recently, the pay-TV industry in the country has been facing strong competition from providers of online video streaming services. Internet TV has emerged as a strong alternative to counter this competitive threat.
Last year, Verizon’s closest rival, AT & T Inc., had launched its online television streaming service – DirecTV Now. Satellite television operator DISH Network Corp. offers a similar type of product called – Sling TV. Comcast Corp. – the largest multi-service cable operator in the US And a media giant – is considering a strategic decision to re-brand its current streaming TV service “Stream”, to make it available in its entirety. The new service called – Xfinity Instant TV – is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2017.
