IMDb Freedive Amazon Free TV service Launched With Hundreds of Catlog

Amazon Free TV service with support for Amazon commercials launched in the United States. Amazon has expanded its advertising space for the VOD area and offers IMDb a catalog of dozens of free movies and TV shows.

Amazon's own movie database site has released a free video streaming service in the United States with IMDb Freedive (imdb.com/freedive). A representative of IMDb refused to indicate the number of titles originally available, except that there are "hundreds". The site currently contains a relatively thin line of more than 130 films and 29 television programs that can be broadcast for free.

Freedive's IMDb television series includes the previous seasons of Fringe, Heroes, The Bachelor (Season 20 and 21), Gilligan's Island, Duck Dynasty, Quantum Leap, Born This Way "Nightmares in the Kitchen" and "No Trace." The films in the service include "Awakening," "Some Men," "Adaptation," "Driving," "Fox Catcher," "Gattaca," "Memento", "Run Lola Run", "The Last Samurai", "True Romance", "The Monster" by Patty Jenkins and "The Midnight in Paris" by Woody Allen.

Freedive's licensed tracks are from studios and networks including CBS, NBC Universal Television, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures, Newmarket Films, Warner Bros. Television, A+E Networks and Annapurna Images.

The Freedive service is available on the IMDb website on computers and on all Amazon Fire TV devices. The company announced that IMDb Freedive will soon be available on mobile devices through the IMDb application.

To date, IMDb has produced short series series such as "The IMDb Show", "Casting Calls" and "No Small Parts" as well as advances and interviews with celebrities. Freedive is an important impetus to monetize video content with sustainable films and successful TV shows.

IMDb Freedive competes with AVOD offerings like Tubi, Pluto TV and Vudu from Walmart. IMDb believes it can gain market share with millions of visitors who are actively interested in entertainment. The company said it would constantly add new titles.

"Customers are already relying on IMDb to discover movies and TV shows and decide what to watch," said Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb, in a statement. "We will further enhance IMDb Freedive based on customer feedback and make it more widely available in leading mobile IMDb applications."

IMDb Freedive also uses Amazon's X-Ray feature, which allows viewers to access IMDb information on sales, equipment, trivia, soundtracks, and multiple titles. Starting this week, customers of Fire TV devices will see a new Freedive IMDb icon in the "Your apps and channels" line. You can also use Alexa's voice commands, "Alexa, access Freedive," to access the content

Amazon, which acquired IMDb in 1998, reports that the site has more than 250 million unique users worldwide.
