6 New TV channels added on AsiaSat 7 and Intelsat 20 After MIB Licence

Satellite TV and internet: MIB licenses 6 new TV channels on AsiaSat 7 and Intelsat 20. ZEEL has received the permission for Zee Classic. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) licensed six new channels in January and February. The channels are Skystar Bangla, Telugu Skystar, PTC Music, Punjabi PTC, Simran PTC and Zee Classic. The six channels belong to categories other than news.

On February 7, 2019, G-Next Media received permission to downlink and uplink PTC Music, PTC Punjabi, and PTC Simran on the Intelsat 20 satellite in Punjabi, Hindi, and English.

On February 13, 2019, Zee Entertainment Enterprises was granted permission to incorporate Zee Classic into Asiasat-7 in Punjabi, Hindi, and all regional languages.

On January 15, 2019, Skystar Entertainment Pvt Ltd was granted permission to connect and reduce the link between Skystar Bangla and Skystar Telugu in Intelsat-20 in Hindi and English, all languages programmed in India and globally.

The number of private satellite tv and internet with a valid license in India is between 885 and 21 February 2019. 505 channels are non-news and the remaining 380 are news channels. In December 2018, the MIB approved five channels.
